Curio Squirrel — Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 27, 2026
Curio Squirrel (“the extension”) is a browser extension that downloads images, attachments, and videos from Patreon creators whose content you have paid to access. This policy describes what the extension accesses and how that data is handled.
Curio Squirrel is operated by Eventide Development LLC.
What the extension accesses
When you use Curio Squirrel on patreon.com:
- Your Patreon session. The extension uses your existing Patreon login (session cookies) to call Patreon’s API on your behalf — the same requests your browser makes when viewing a creator’s page. This is required to list the posts and media you’ve paid for.
- Post and media metadata — titles, publish dates, and media URLs fetched from Patreon so the extension knows what to download.
- Downloaded files — images, attachments, and videos are saved to your computer through your browser’s download folder.
The extension does not read your Patreon password, payment details, or any data from pages other than the Patreon creator pages you choose to use it on.
Data stored locally
The extension stores the following in your browser’s local storage (chrome.storage.local), on your device only:
- Your license email and license key (if you’ve activated Premium).
- Your download preferences (folder layout, file-type filters, date range).
- A record of previously downloaded file URLs (per creator) so repeat runs skip files you already have.
- Progress of active and recent downloads.
None of this is transmitted anywhere; it lives only inside your browser profile.
What leaves your device
The only data that leaves your device via the extension is:
- Premium checkout. Clicking “Upgrade” opens a Stripe Payment Link. Payment is processed entirely by Stripe — the extension never sees or handles your card or payment details. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to that transaction.
- License issuance. When you complete a purchase, Stripe notifies our license server (a serverless function on Cloudflare) with the email address you used at checkout. The server signs a license key tied to that email and emails it to you (via Resend). The email is processed transiently to deliver the key and is not retained on the server.
Third-party services
- Patreon — your session is used to fetch the content you’ve paid for, subject to Patreon’s Terms and privacy policy.
- Stripe — processes the one-time Premium purchase.
- Resend — delivers the license email to the address you provided at checkout.
- Cloudflare — hosts the license-issuing function.
The extension itself contains no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, and no tracking, and does not sell or share your data.
Data retention
- Locally stored data (preferences, download history, license) remains until you remove the extension or clear it from the extension’s options.
- The license server processes the purchase webhook transiently and does not keep a database of emails or purchases.
Children
The extension is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and is not intended for their use.
Your choices
- You can remove the stored license and download history anytime from the extension’s options page.
- You can use the extension without purchasing Premium; the free tier is fully functional for the most recent 30 days of content.
- Uninstalling the extension removes its locally stored data.
